Mount Hood Trail Conditions (forum)
Submitted by Amy on Fri, 05/02/2008 - 11:37am.Jim Thornton, Trails Coordinator of the Mount Hood National Forest, spoke at the PUMP April meeting. He said there were 200 plus inches of snow still in the high elevations, such as around High Prairie. The snow probably won’t melt off the 5000’ – 6000’ elevations until late June and early July. He asks that riders be aware of trail conditions and allow the trails to dry before riding late this summer.
Smith Creek postponed - changed to Eight Mile/Bottle Prairie Loop trail (event)

The anticipated and once postponed ride to Smith Creek, Mount St Helens is
again being postponed/cancelled because of snow pack issues. Even though the
trail on Smith Creek would be snow free, the road to get to the trail head is
still most likely under quite a bit of snow which would force us to hike a
bike for a few miles in snow.
So, I've decided to do the Eight Mile Loop and Bottle Prairie Loop trails
east of Mount Hood instead. I rode Eight Mile trail yesterday (for the first
time ever...) and it is in great condition.
