BACKGROUND

In 2007, the City of Vernonia approached Westside Trail Federation about helping develop the bike skills park near Vernonia Lake. The vision for the park had already been established, and funding secured through Oregon Parks & Recreation grant- thanks to the efforts of Ric Balfour.

Park planning has been lead by Alta Planning+Design and W.T.F. members have provided input into design.

The vision includes dual slalom course, dirt jumps, and freeride skill features. From beginner to advanced features. The site is location of an old lumber mill - long since gone and most everything cleared from the area - so there's potential to utilize some urban features in the bike park's perimeter trails.
