New Trail

This is a great chance to build new trail! It is not often that we get brand new trail. Please come!

Where is this?

I am brand new to the area and would love to help out. I am living in Parkdale and was wondering if the trail is closer to here then to Hood River. If not I could meet down at Dog River. Thanks!

Off of Road 44

The trail is on Forest Road 44.  Forest Road 44 is east of Highway 35 between Robin Hood and Sherwood Campgrounds.

This weekend

I am also new to the area and would love to be a part of this.  I am coming from Vancouver.  Would you suggest for me to meet you at Dog River? What do you mean by a "Dog River Shuttle" following the work party?

re: this weekend

We're meeting at the Gateway Transit Center in Portland at 7:45 to carpool or you can meet at Dog River Coffee in Hood River. We're shuttling the Dog River trail after the work party, not to be confused with Dog River coffee ; )

From Ranger Jim

Ok Guys and Gals,

A total of 34 people showed up to work yesterday - Backcountry Horseman of Hood River, CAMBA, PUMP, PTCA and our local Mt Bike Ranger Crew just to name a few. Others will enjoy your efforts and your work is the footprint for the future.

Just take a minute to think about it.

You created and improved public access. You designed, laid-out, cleared and grubbed in trail, cut logs and had countless hours working on the alignment for the Cooks Meadow Trail. We'll have another work day on Cooks Meadow and I will keep you all in the loop.

For those folks who I didn't get to meet yesterday or spend some time with I'm sorry as its gets a little overwhelming. I'll do a better job delegating work to the trail bosses next time. I promise. You all did great and I'm excited to hear that there's a continued interest for working on the Barlow Ranger District's Trail system.

We did well and I look forward to next season's National Trails Day in June. Thanks for all the support and to the sponsors today. (New York City Sub Shop, Dog River Coffee and DaKine).

Thanks,
Ranger Jim
