Boulder Lake ride,
Submitted by Lee Greenwald on Tue, 09/02/2008 - 10:46am.
I've lived in Hood River 17 years, but I'm new to the club. I'd like to ride the Boulder Lake trail. I've read the area contains the largest stand of old growth left around Mt Hood and that it may be included into the expanded Wilderness and soon be off limits to Mt Bikers. Does anyone know the trail, and want to lead a ride? Conditions? Please let me know through this site, and also my email at logfog@gorge.net.

Hi Lee,
I saw your posting on the PUMP website.
I am frequently at Mt Hood and have ridden many of the area trails. I have not yet done the Boulder Lake trails, but I'd be interested. I'm not sure when I'll be back up there again (maybe this weekend but not sure). Anyway, do you want me to drop you a line next time I plan to ride up there?

I received your email, I'm trying to find someone who can lead us on that trail.
This ride is happening on September 13th
Dave posted a Bonney Butte Ride that would include the Boulder lakes trail the following week.
The loop is not to long(10 miles) but if you ride out of Bennet Pass it adds another 10 of gravel road to get there and back. The trail starts out of Bonney Meadows Campground. It is on the left as you enter the campground. You stay left at the first intersection and ride the trail clockwise. The descent into Boulder Lakes is pretty technical. Just past the lake at the bottom the trail splits. Take the trail on the right which has a short steep climb. You end up at a gravel road and take a right. Up the road some distance the Forest Creek trail takes off on the right. This will take you back to Bonney Meadows campground. It is a fairly buff single track climb with a fun descent toward the campgrount.
SEpt 13th
I'd like to join in on that ride. OK?
Where to sign up? Where to meet? When?
