Ape Canyon and Smith Creek loop ride, Mount St Helens, WA
Have you ever wanted to do the Ape Canyon and Smith Creek loop trails? Well, here's your chance! We'll be leaving from the Marble Mountain Snow Park, north-east of Cougar, WA at 8:00A. The Ape Canyon trail is in excellent condition this year. Even though the upper Smith Creek trail is currently in pretty rough condition, there are several work parties scheduled before Labor Day weekend which should clear out most of the brush in time for this ride.
You can expect about 35 miles of riding in some of the most spectacular scenery close to Portland! You can expect over 5,000 feet of climbing. You can expect to see very few people. You can expect to be dehydrated if you do not carry extra water. You can expect a great ride!
Further details will be posted soon. Please let us know if you plan on riding. Thanks!, David Anderson
Car Pool?
Smith Creek - car pool?
I personally will meet everyone up at the Marble mountain snow park. IF anyone wants to car pool from the Portland area I would suggest meeting at the Gateway Park and Ride and leave there by 6:00 A.M., drive north to Woodland and then east on 503 to Cougar and then on to the snow park.
