Broken Glass intentionally spread on Rocky Pointe single track??

So I went up to Rocky Pointe for a ride on Saturday (5/31/08) and was shocked to find a bunch of broken glass on one of the first trails up the hill. Specifically, I believe it is the second single track on the right side of the fire road. This trail ultimately leads to North Shore/Devil Dog etc. I started up this trail and came across a stretch (~50 ft or more!) of broken glass and one semi-buried beer bottle laying across the trail. I dismounted and forged onward and did not see any other occurances during the rest of my ride. I rode the exact same trail the week - so it seems that this happened recently. I'm a newbie here with about 4 rides under my belt - but I have to wonder if someone is trying to send a message. Since it is so close to the gate I'll bring a rake and trash bag to clean up the mess....but until next time....rider beware!

Some quick history. The glass of which you speak has been there for years. There used to be a great deal more than you just found.
That is an old horse trail that happens to have been converted to riding by John. Back when it was a horse/hiking trail it was also a great place for people to place their bottles for target practice because it offered a slight rise from the road. Thus you have tons of broken glass. The road from the first trail on the left (lollipop) all the way to trail you spoke of used to be covered in glass almost weekly, along with the spent shells from the shooters. I have removed more glass than anything else from that area over the years... sadly to say I have also thrown a good amount off the side of the road/trails just to get it out of the main patch where most people/animals pass. If you hike the trails as well as ride them, you would be surprised how much glass and garbage you find on the old original trails that have been there for many years. The first little short uphill burst of lower bone is the same.... glass imbedded in the dirt. Before they installed gates those roads were the dumps... including the old cars you see back in there. Our riding in there has had a drastic reduction in the illegal dumping, shooting and motorized vehicle riding. The only motorized riders I have seen in there in the last 4-5 years have been the locals property owners from down below and that was always in the very wet winter time when the danger from their engines for causing fire is nill. We do have a positive impact!
So... anything we do to make it better... is good for Longview, the neighbors and us bikers.
keep riding,
