Forest Park Trail Party - RESCHEDULED!!

08/05/2008 - 4:00am

Be A Part Of The Action
With PUMP's Forest Park Trail Parties
!

Trail Crew at the PUMP Newton Rd Trail Party May 3, 2008

Due to Shanti's recent illness, this trail party is being rescheduled!!
DO NOT SHOW UP FOR THIS ONE ON  TUESDAY,  AUGUST 5TH!!

The new (weekday afternoon) date will be posted shortly.

If you had PUMP/Bike Advocacy time slotted on your calendar for this time,
please redirect that time and energy to the Sandy Basin fromt 6-9 PM Tuesday
August 5th (yes: the same day as this trail party was scheduled for!) meeting
on this calendar. It's downtown PDX, so not that much different in meeting location.
If bikers had been involved with the Forest Park planning at this stage in the
game with the Sandy Basin project, we would have the riding we want in FP
now instead of "working on it." Please attend this meeting!! They want our
input in their planning process. Real singletrack MTB right in our back yard -
Wooo-hoooo!

Thank you for your dedication to trail parties!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What our Forest Park trail parties are about:

Are you a rider of Forest Park who would like to see more singletrack Urban Singletrack in Forest Park? Have you noticed the cool improvements to Firelane 5 and Newton Road since November? Like to be a part of it? Would you like to know more about the trails in The Park while meeting other local mountain bikers? Are you new to the area with a desire to hook up with the local mountain bike community? Always heard about PUMP, but don't know much about us? Are you a beginner who wants to know more about your local mountain biking scene? PUMP has just the answer for you!

Come on out and be a part of the action with PUMP's Forest Park Trail Maintenance Party!

Not a PUMP member? No worries! Our trail crew is made up of riders from PUMP, OBRA, Westside Trail Federation, and non-affiliated riders who hook up with us via Fat Tire Farm, Revolver Bikes, Mtbr.com, BikePortland.org, ORBike, etc. PUMP's Trail Maintenance Parties are as much about building community as they are about improving the trails we love to ride.
(Join PUMP here!)

What: PUMP Forest Park Trail Party

When: Tuesday, August 5th, 2008
4:00 PM - 7:30 PM

Directions: Newton Road Parking + Entrance
Come on up the Newton Road Entrance as described to the fork in the road and there we shall be! Please ensure that you sign both the PUMP sign-in (member or not) and the Portland Parks waiver upon arrival.

Bring:
Work Gloves, Water, and your friends. This is a family friendly event, so bring your young bikers! Our partners at The Forest Park Conservancy provides all neccessary trail tools.

Know before you go:
- Forest Park is an on-leash only dog area.
- Kids very welcome. Best for 6+ y/o.
- Poison Oak is present. Know what it looks like (here) and take neccessary precautions if you are susceptible. Long clothing, gloves, and a post-exposure shower normally take care of this. (other info)
- Some find it handy to bring some kind of topical bug repellant.

Please:
- Check the ride calendar the night before for any unforseen changes;
- RSVP so we can plan work efficiently and have enough trail tools on hand for all.
- Contact Shanti Ware, PUMP's Forest Park Representative with any questions and RSVPs (PUMP members can use PUMP's handy online RSVP!)

Can't make this one? Check PUMP's Ride Calendar for other fabulous trail maintenance/build opportunties and put some sweat equity into the trail you love most. You can also check out non-mtb Forest Park volunteer opportunities with the Forest Park Conservancy.

See you at the Party!
