Trail Maintenance & Ride: Wilson River Trail

05/11/2008 - 9:00am
05/11/2008 - 4:00pm

I will be leading a trail maintenance and ride day on the Wilson River Trail (WRT).  We will plan to meet at the Cornelius Pass Roadhouse for car pooling at 9:00am.  We will access the WRT near Keenig Creek Trailhead from Cedar Butte Road and clear as many of the small trees and branches from the trail working east towards the Footbridge Trailhead.  You may recall from my earlier posts that this section of trail had quite a bit of blow down and wash outs from the winter storms.

I have spoken with Laura and Nathan (ODF Tillamook State Forest - Tillamook District) regarding this work party and she informed me that the South Fork Prison (SFP) crew will be in working on this same section in a few weeks.  The SFP crew will have plenty of trail surface work to do, so I'd like to give them a jump start on the tree clearing.  This will greatly speed up our ability to ride the entire WRT this summer!

Plan to work for 2-3 hours.  After the trail maintenance we will head up to the Footbridge trailhead and ride east towards the Tillamook Forestry Center - and beyond if folks want to.

For folks that are interested, I plan to eat and socialize at the Cornelius Pass Roadhouse after we get back into town.

Bring food, water, work gloves, handsaws and clippers, and your riding gear if you plan to stick around for the ride afterwards.

Please RSVP so that I don't leave you behind.  Let me know if you would prefer to meet me at the Cedar Butte Road; we should be there around 10:00am.
