BC?

Anybody headed down to Barbie Camp? I'm a bit on the fence & having a rider/driver/kick in the butt would help me decide one way or the other.

SPRING BARBIE CAMP VENUE CHANGE!

READ THIS IF YOU PLAN TO ATTEND SPRING BARBIE CAMP APRIL 4-6, 2008

On Sunday, March 30, a visit to the usual Barbie Campsite near Black Butte proved there is too much snow to camp there. In fact, we could not even attempt to drive the final 2 miles of dirt road to access the traditional BC campsite. So Barbie Camp is moving about 15 miles south, to a beautiful, pine-forested campsite on Squaw Creek. The new spot is about three and a half miles south of the town of Sisters. From the Valley, it only takes about 10 minutes longer to drive to this new Barbie campsite than the previous one.

Here's how to get to the NEW Spring Barbie Campsite:

Go to Google Maps
Select "Get directions"
Enter your address in the "Start address" field
Cut & paste the following into the "End address" field:
Three Creeks Lake Rd @44.246032, -121.548683
Now hit the "Get directions" button (next to the end address field)
A map will appear showing the route from your address to the turnoff into the BC campsite.
You can choose to view "map," "satellite," or "terrain." Zoom in or out. Print the directions.
Note the final leg in the driving instructions says "Continue on Three Creeks Lake Rd -- 2.7 miles."
It's closer to 3.7 miles. This is because in downtown Sisters you'll turn south onto S. Elm St., which becomes Three Creeks Lake Rd when you leave Sisters city limits.

Anyway, the final right turn onto the dirt road into the BC campsite is directly across from FS Rd #1608.
The new BC campsite is west of Three Creeks Lake Rd, on the bank of picturesque Squaw Creek.
Dirt road access into the campsite is easy. Low-slung cars or large trailers will have no trouble getting in.
The camping area is quite nice and just as big as our old campsite. Firewood appears plentiful.
The Sisters Trails network includes a tie trail right from our new BC campsite to Peterson Ridge Trail.

PLEASE HELP GET THE WORD OUT.
Signs will NOT be put up at the previous Spring BC campsite -- no one will be redirected from there!
If you know of anyone who might be planning to attend Spring BC but might not get this email, please forward it to them.
Spread the word, and thank you.

If you have questions, direct them to me.
Thanks!
