Question about dues and volunteer tracking
#1 - Dues tracking & dues payment; How do I (a current member) pay my dues without setting up a new account? How do I see if I am current or past due?
#2 - Volunteer Work & Points Tracking; How do I submit my hours and work done? Two examples - A) I helped John Joy work on the Scappoose Trail as part of a work party. B) I have worked solo repairing a section of trail and removed blowdown. Where do I go to report my personal volunteer hours. Were do I go to track my hours / points as the year progresses.
#3 - Volunteer Hours Reporting on a group level; Is there a place to view the total number of hours that PUMP volunteers have worked. Kind of like a year end report. 2006 we had XXXX hours of volunteer work building trails, 2007 we had XXXX, 2008 we are currently at XXXX. I ask this because tracking (& showing) the amount of volunteer hours as a group is very powerfull when working with land managers like DNR. It shows that we are a serious and it also shows that we are a powerful group of volunteers. Our second goal would be to compare and contrast our past years work with the current year so that we can reward ourselves for increases. Past years reports act as a benchmark. It should be our goal to increase our membership and increase the volunteer hours we work. It would be realy cool to be able report at the 20 yr aniversary party that we have worked XXXX amount of volunteer hours for the last 20 years, multipltied by current $ value = XXXX. Wow, that would be impressive. Unfortuantly we need to gather the data first in order to create such a report. It would be great of the webiste made it easy for people to report their volunteer efforts so that we can track the hours on both a group level and an individual level.
#4 - Website bug - the catcgories shown on the left hand side get a little too big when selected and cause the page not to fit on the computer screen. Can these be made smaller?
Thanks again for all your hard work.
See you on the trail!
#2 For right know submit
#2 For right know submit everything to Ryan Kilgren. You will find his contact information on the officers page. Ryan is tracking all of this to apply to the things you mention in #3.
I will let the web guru figure out whether or not it is possible to add this to the website. It would be a good idea to add somewhere to enter this in.
Great ideas! Keep them coming!!
Yes, please send me info on when you volunteer your time for mountain biking! Whether it be for trail maintenance, advocacy, land manager meetings, etc I want to know about it. Please provide me with the number of hours you participated in the volunteer activity, also please include the amount of time you prepared for the activity (such as if you were preparing for a land manager meeting or revising a letter to a council person on the benefits of single track mountain biking trails within the City of Portland), the amount of time/miles you traveled to perform the activity, a description of what you did, who worked with you, and of course the date of the activity.
It would be great to have a running total of this information on the website. And I can try to provide updates to the club during monthly meetings.
All great ideas!
Tracking Volunteer Hours - Form?
Ted Dodd
I have a bad memory. Is there a form that we can fill out and submit. I am not being a smart ass, but I would like to help encourge people to sunmit their volunteer hours. This is the same challenge that CAMBA has and they have NOT figured out a solution yet. Right now people are asked to report back to a centeralized person, but they don't. The only volunteer hours they are able to capture are the hours that are submited by the project leaders.
Just a members are like votes. Volunteer hours are a measure of our strength as a group, proof of our good work, and validation of value as a group of volunteers.
Thanks for your help.
Point Tracking
Hey Ted,
I hear ya.. We do need volunteer hours tracking. I'll add that to my todo list & work with Ryan K to figure out all the fields we need..
As for #4, I'll take a look at that on some different browsers & see if I can't come up with a fix.
Membership
Hi Ted,
Currently we don't have anything set up for people to see their current membership status, but I'll look into this with Ryan. Your membership expired a few months back, but we won't hold that against you! I think everyone has to set up a new account initially if they want to pay with Paypal. If you don't like the idea of Paypal, please mail a check to the Pump address with a simple note saying membership renewal, and Steve and I will get you up to date.
Slacker
Ted D
Darn it! My mom was right... I guess I am a slacker
I will either send a check or bring one to the next PUMP meeting. Thanks for the info.
