Website To-Do List

Here's a heads up on what I feel needs to be done to this website, if you see something that you'd like to do, please contact me.

  • Refine our Join/member benifits page - discounts at local shops etc.
  • Write up a supporters page where we can promote the People & Businesses that support us most (partially done, see supporters...).
  • Create an RSS feed for the Calendar.
  • Create an RSS feed for th Forum
  • Add a pay-by-check / old-school Join PUMP page.
  • Write up Posting Guidelines on the site - what's acceptable and generally how to post content.
  • Write up/post ride leader guidelines & encourage members to post their rides.
  • Improve the event signup feature to add comments and allow a ride leader to limit the number of participants.
  • Improve the front page content with welcome text for non-registerd users & pimp IMBA & other supporters
  • Create a visiting Portland page - that'll have info on where to rent bikes & some standard rides.
  • Create a Bicycling in Portland page that links to all the other cool bike-related p-town stuff.
  • Get the old PUMP site up in an archived spot so it can be referenced..
  • And... more to come..

Feel free to comment & help out..

I want to help with this one

Adding google maps ap for trail head locations and other trail info -> we can place this under the "Trails" link under "Ride" and change the current "Trails" title text to read "Rides".  Email me or we can chat at the regular PUMP meeting.

RSS Feed for Forums?

Any way to get an RSS feed for the forums? I'd like it for the forums as a whole, not individual threads. Something like the email feed. bd

I would like this as well.

I would like this as well.

Forum RSS

I added the forum RSS to the todo list....

Forum RSS is Ready

Hey folks, the forum RSS feeds are done.  If there were RSS feeds before, you'd be notified of this reply.. oh well.

Big, Obvious "JOIN!" Button

Hi, Ryan.

It's time for me to renew my PUMP/IMBA membership and I was excited to do it online (!) for the first time! Yeah! When I went to look for the "Join" feature, I had to hunt to the bottom of the page and found it in small, obscure lettering after clicking on button after button. If I wasn't already a invested PUMP member, I would not have gone through the trouble. I am doing my best to direct new people to our website (as I am sure everyone is). I really want them to see the obvious "Join" opportunity when they get here and "just do it!"

Suggestion:  It would be really beneficial to the club membership effort if the "Join" button could be large, obvious (like a big star button) in the upper right hand side of our web page banner. In my mind, this should repeat on every darn page. Sales is a large part of my business. I want people to come to our page, get excited, and be tempted and taunted by that large "Join" button as they read about our great rides and events.

My .02

Thanks!

Let's get it dialed

Shanti,

I've been begging for marketing help with this site.. Content & Marketing is not really my expertise.  I'll improve the Join button & we'll work on some other stuff after that, sound good?

Marketing Help

Hi, Ryan

I have a lot to do with Forest Park, so can't commit to full time marketing help with the site, but can be of assistance. Because of my FP work and need for help in fund raising, I do know some club members who have marketing experience and have offered to help in that capacity. I can hook you up with those folks, too. Just need to go through my volunteer spredsheet.

Nothing's worse than doing your best (time allowed), screaming for help, and not being heard :-(   Love to help in any way I can.

Speaking of "volunteer rosters," I am listed on our "Officers" page as "Fundraising." My only current funtion is as Forest Park Representative/Liaison. I can help coordinate fundraising if I have volunteers to make the calls, but my real job/Forest Park Rep combo is all I have time for in an official capacity w/o said volunteers.

Shoot me an e-mail or give me a ring - let's talk!

Thank you for all you do!

~ Shanti
