Smith Creek - Mount St Helens ride

This will be a repeat of the Smith Creek out and back trip that we went on in 2007!  We will descend in to Smith Creek on the remains of Forest Service Road 8322 and then head north on the Smith Creek trail.  The blown down trees we encountered in 2007 have reportedly been cleared.  The descent in to Smith Creek is a fast one, while the trail up the canyon is generally not too technical.  The climb back out of Smith Creek is fairly steep.  Anticipate seeing no one else, or possibly only a few other explorers after we leave the Marble Mountain Snow Park.  The washout at June Lake on Road 83 will be repaired this year so this will be the last time we will have the mountain to our selves! 

We will meet at the Gateway Park and Ride at 7:00A on Memorial Day to carpool north.  We will leave the Park and Ride at 7:30A so please allow time to consolidate cars.  We can meet Washington Riders in Cougar at 8:45A.
